This is really a glorified pool toy, at least, as it comes out of the box. But it's a really nice pool toy.The box says it seats five. Maybe you could, but it's small for five adults. Unless you buy a motor, you will be rowing and that makes a lot of the space unusable. The boat handles terribly. That's more of a warning that a criticism. A small current or moderate breeze will be more than you can overcome with the oars.Rowing is difficult, especially if there is a current or any wind. They (Intex) make one size of oars and I think these might be fine on their smaller boats, but on this one they really should be another foot or more. They attach through a rubber/plastic ring but the boat just isn't very strong so there is a lot of play and movement you wouldn't have on a solid boat. It just means your rowing isn't very efficient. The included pump takes a fair bit of effort to pump up the three chambers. Expect a good 20 minutes to get the thing setup and then another 20 to deflate and wipe down/dry off and fold

Grandchildren loved this boat. After they mastered rowing they were all over the lake. Looking forward to getting a "turn" to take it for a spin. Great for the whole family. It's heavy so make sure you have plenty of help to get it to the water. Hand pump was a bit of a challenge but good for the arms.

While planning a camping trip to a 2,000 acre Massachusetts state park in our motorhome to have recreation time with daughter and grandchildren, we checked on renting a boat for the weekend, so we could explore the lakes in that park. Then we discovered that we could buy this boat from Amazon for less than the weekend boat rental fee. Unlike rigid boats, when deflated this boat stores in its included carrying bag with carry handles that will then fit in a storage compartment underneath our motorhome. This deflated bagged boat and its accessories also easily fits in the trunk of even a small car or on the backseat. Having the boat travel with us in our RV means that we'll have no more inconvenient trips to boat rental facilities and their rental fees.

From the shipping box, this boat unfolded, assembled and inflated easily by using the included manual pump. Separate inflatable compartments surrounding the boat plus the inflatable bottom and inflatable seats suggests that a single puncture would not sink this boat. A small vinyl accessory bag keeps smaller parts safe. We found this boat easy to launch and retrieve. Leaving one end of this boat on a grassy shore during launch enables us to board without getting our feet wet. The smooth bottom makes it easy for us to shove off from shore. Three adults and two children were safely accommodated. Four wore life jackets purchased separately to comply with state law. The seats are low for stability and comfortable. The included oars were easy to assemble for use and to disassemble for storage. Carrying handles on each end of this boat make it easy for two people to transport it over land.

Rowing this boat with the included oars mounted on the boat's oar locks was easy enough for our petite six-year-old granddaughter to master. Plastic grommets prevent the oars from accidentally slipping into the water. In summary, this is a well thought-out inflatable boat design made from obviously tough vinyl material has given us easy use, good value and paid for itself the first time we used it with saved rental fees. We're looking forward to enjoying this boat many times during this summer's camping season

Bought this to use on the river when the weather is not good enough to take our boat out but still want to have fun on the water. We used it this weekend and it was strong and sturdy. We took 3 adults and a 2 year old. It is some work to set up and take down, but nothing horrible. We enjoyed it!

Best bang for the buck you could possibly get in a boat. My only real complaint is that it came out of the box with a hole in it. A very wierd hole to boot. I'm not saying this is the problem, but IT LOOKS like in a small section the rubber is slightly harder and did not stretch like it should and caused the boat to crack about a 1/4in. I threw a patch on it I happen to have for an Intex air matress, and it worked. Went out on the water with an electric trolling motor, and everything was fine. I don't want to return, but also weary of the boat I have and wonder if it'll fail in another location over time. I might just return to be safe.

I bought this boat to fish in Lake George NY on vacation. I made a floor out of 1/2 BDX plywood for it and glued on outdoor carpet to it. I used a 55 lb motor and 100 AH battery.

I was able to easily register the boat in NY with the following items: manufacturing certificate from the Intex website, an email from Amazon with the information required (see the NY boat registration instructions), invoice, and tax form. For the email from Amazon customer service was happy to provide what I needed. I was at the DMV window for about 15 minutes.

Performance of the boat was great. We kept it at the dock all vacation and took lots of fishing and cruising trips. I definitely recommend making a floor. You can stand in it and makes it more ridgid. We had a great time. I used a 100 AH battery and it easily lasted all day. We travelled 6.5 miles on day to diamond island and back and still had more than 25% battery left.

Adults sat on coolers in the boat. It worked ok but you butt gets sore after a while. For next year I plan to make boxes with real seats. Will also use the boxes to mount the fish finder and hold the battery.

This setup will added to our vacation. For everything including the motor, fish finder, life jackets etc. It was a little over 1K and totally worth it.

Works like it should pretty comfortable an durable built like a raft should pole holders aren't the most trustworthy things an does get pulled by wind an currant due to size so not the most fun to row unless its calm an smooth water. still lots of fun if u only have a car or not much storage space for a real boat

I own several blowup kayaks and have had them for years. I am familiar with the inflation and deflation process and do it 10-15 times a year on kayaks for a family of 5. I purchased this so the whole family (3 small children and 2 adults, total weight 480lbs) could use it instead of inflating 5 different kayaks when we want to hit the river. I do not know if i just got a defected one or if the quality is poor. We got a mile up river and had to pull off to the bank as the boat was more than half way deflated. I double checked all the plugs and everything was tight and as it should be. It was not easy try to paddle this thing back deflated with 3 small children and 2 adults. I am assuming there was a defect in one of the seams.I like the idea of it. However, It wasnt easy to paddle and maneuver up or down river even when it was fully inflated. We tried with one person in the back paddling and one person in the front with both oars each. That was fruitless, so we tried with both adults paddling in the back with one oar each and that seemed to work the best. Its a big boat and uncomfortable to maneuver with the sub par oars provided. It took us over an hour to figure out a groove that worked and we are experienced kayakers. As we were coming back on the landing I saw someone with the same boat, however he had a trolling motor attached and He had great things to say about the boat. I think that might be the way to go if you purchase this unit-buy the trolling motor and attachments to use it.Some pros are the size, and pack-ability. It is spacious enough for 3 kids and 2 adults with an ice chest, towels, water toys and life jackets. It packs up well in the provided bag and fit with room to spare in the back hatch of our van.Because it deflated on us and wouldn't hold air I had to return the item. I got a refund, however the restocking fee was $50.

This is our 4th raft and our 3rd intex. We started with the excursion, great boat and served us well. We thought we'd replace it with the mariner but didn't hold up to wear and tear and got hole after hole and it finally had one in the seam that was pretty much unrepairable. It only lasted 2 seasons. It was quite roomy enough but accommodated the lounge chairs well. Just tried this one yesterday. Very impressive size! I think this is probably thier biggest model. We are able to put our gear and comfortably stretch out. I could see 3 adults tightly packed in this for fishing but DEFINITELY NOT 5! So far so good. No issues unboxing, trolling mount fit well, love the 4 pole holders and no issue with the holders being too small (mariners holders where too small for a couple of my poles), held air just fine and no valve issues. Looking forward to many more trips.

So its a good boat. But not stable. I did installed a plywood floor, but results were not what I was expecting. But on another end, I will still keep it due to portability and its space and weight limit, which is great. Still a bit confused if I am happy with the purchase or not. I will say if you are looking for an inflatable boat, go for it, you might like it. This was my first ever boat so I think my expectation on stability was a bit higher.

This thing is great as a starter boat for fishing and exploring rivers, reservoirs and lakes. I made a plywood floor (plenty of schematics and instructions online), got the intex motor mount, a decent deep cycle battery, the 45lb thrust minn kota transom motor, and the bullnose brand rudder clamp to get started. Although the rudder clamp isn't necessary ($40), I do recommend it because steering without one is much more janky. If you're thinking of buying this I would say that you need to plan on cutting a floor out and putting a motor on it. Cost me about 800-900 to get everything (electric air pump, minn kota battery box, battery charger, registration for the boat, floor materials, night lights, battery & trolling motor). Also, unless you're gonna pull it on a trailer (seems ridiculous to me) it's best to have 2 people to set it up and get on the water. The 5 person model is 12 feet long so mobility gets awkward enough walking down boat launches, pulling out of the water onto a dock, etc. Overall, I love this thing. Very customizable and once you get a trolling motor on it you'll fall in love. Bank anglers be gawkin, y

For the price it can't be beat, but 5 people is a real stretch, 3 people yes, but I don't think our motor could have handled that much more weight. There is not real place for the battery, I placed mine behind the stern seat cushion but you could easily put the battery in the middle too. We've taken it out once so far and had a great day on the water's of Biscayne Bay in Miami. But don't be afraid to fill it up with air, I think I underinflated it on our maiden voyage which caused too much drag on the water so we didn't go as fast as maybe we could have. But overall love it!

    I discovered one of the problems with this boat. Amazon always gave me a fair shake about my concerns and returns of some of the products I have purchased over the last 9 some odd years, so… This boat is an entry level craft and you get what you paid for. I paid $98 for mine but sent the first one back because it wasn't holding air. Filled indoors on a smooth floor but I was clueless to the location of any and all leaks. Ok, sent it back and got a fresh new second one. This also was leaking out air. I spent some time on the net and found out that the inflatable products usually leaked at the VALVES! I removed the #2 & 3 Boston valves and didn't see anything wrong… huh. So I greased them up at all the strategic spots. Use a lot of Q-tips and VASELINE (mine has cocoa butter in it too). Reassembled the valves and now NO MORE leakage! Be sure you pry up the large black sealing plastic gasket and swab the jelly UNDER it. Do the same in and around the small inflate plastic membrane (about the size of a dime) as well. I'll report back in May after it's maiden voyage. Your Welcome! Glad to help. P.S. = I'm adding the fact that Intex is dishonest and unconcerned about this problem. Also be aware of seam tears as time goes by. Try to keep it stowed away off season indoors. Wish us luck and safe boating! { All of this earned only ONE star as a whole but Amazon made the concessions}

First of all, we love this boat! We're a family of four who travels and RVs. We enjoy the water and fishing and really wanted a true boat, but it wasn't feasible with a fifth wheel RV in tow. So I surprised my husband with this for Father's Day this year, and we just love it! Plenty of room for a cooler, PFDs, and a couple of poles, plus two adults and our pre-teen sons. We can load it into the fifth wheel and take it anyplace.

Now, for those trying to obtain a Manufacturer Certificate of Origin…

I read other reviews that said to not bother with this boat if you want to add a motor because of the MCO requirement and supposedly having issues getting it through Amazon or Intex. Well, we've decided to add a Minn Kota trolling motor (Bass Pro) and also bought the motor plate and Minn Kota battery power center (both from Amazon). After tons of digging, an Amazon chat session, and inevitably a phone call with an Amazon rep, she found out we needed to contact Intex for the MCO. (All of this, despite the clerk at our FL county tax collector's office who told me I needed to get this from Amazon.)

So I went to Intex's website to fill out a contact form to see what THEY had to say about getting me the MCO…and what do I find at the bottom of the Intex website but a link to Boat Certificate of Origin (under the Support column)! Right there on their website. No email or phone call necessary. I clicked on the link, found my boat, typed in the hull number (provided on the boat itself), and sure enough: the Manufacturer Certificate of Origin, complete with a signature. The link to it is intexcorp dot com forward-slash boat-certificates.

Amazon was extremely helpful, and Intex makes it easy to get what you need to register the boat. I'd give 6 stars if I could!

Got this as a boat to load up in the side by side and get to those really nice spots that are not car accessible. I was surprised how big it really was and how heavy it is when not inflated. Over all we love it just wouldn't suggest standing in it. We have been looking at some videos of people tricking it out with a hard floor board so we are looking at doing that one that can fold and take with us which should give better stability. One of the seats has an air leak at the seam the patch kit didn't fix it but we got some of that as seen on tv alien tape stuff and that worked well

This boat is by far the most shocking find I have ever found. I was looking to buy a kayak but unfortunately do not have the type of car to put a kayak onto. I was suggested by a friend to buy a inflatable.

I am a tad heavy and was afraid it would tip under my weight but it held me up. It's sturdy reliable and easy to blow up. Haven't seen any problems with it… Yet.

I first tested it overnight in my inground pool and left it for a couple hours to see if it would either lose air or get water in it. After three hours of floating and with me going in and out it remained in perfect condition. Gentlemen. If your considering buying this product… It's worth it.

    (Buy longer oars though)

My wife and I are retired and bought this boat to use on small lakes. That has worked very well for us. It came complete with a pair of oars, a hand pump and carrying bag. Though we did purchase an electric air pump, the hand pump was more than adequate – it just took longer. It is easy to maneuver. There are 2 sets of oar locks in case another pair of oars are wanted. The stern has motor mounts for an electric motor. The seats are detachable and can be inflated separately, which came in handy. And the storage bag was big enough to store everything. There are 3 air chambers for safety, and the valves on the main chambers can be opened up wide to allow for quick deflating. The boat can be inflated at home, transported to the lake on top of an SUV and carried to the boat ramp for launching. I'm 69 and carried it easily, though I needed a step stool to mount and dismount it from the top of my SUV.The main drawback is the size. Although it's more than big enough for my wife and any accessories, I don't think it could comfortably handle 4 adults as the photo on the box shows. Also, if an electric motor is to be added, then the battery would have to be placed on the back seat.

I purchased this boat in July 2016. Its the best money I spent in a very long time. Me and my two kids have spent countless hours boating and fishing all over!!! In August I went on vacation to 1000 islands in upstate NY and Canada. We took a chance and put this boat through the test out in that LARGE body of water. It did GREAT!!!! We were way out with there with the big boats, yachts and even passing barges. I would highly recommend having a strong troll motor if you go out into a large lake with strong wind & waves. I have a 52lb thrust troll motor. It handled the very strong waters of 1000 islands very well. It handled this lake so most other lakes will be a piece of cake. (Cons) It doesn't seat five as advertised. It will seat four adults. Three adults are more comfortable. The fishing pole holders can only be trusted in calm waters only. I lost one of my fishing poles in the rough waters of 1000 islands. Over all it was a great purchase and I highly recommend it to anyone who's thinking about purchasing this boat. You can't go wrong for the money.

This boat was perfect and so much fun! We look it out two different camping trips and it worked perfectly. We were finally able to venture out onto a lake we had been camping at for years and had always wondered what the rest of the place looked like. Lots of fun. We fit two heavier adults and a 7 year old with us and there was plenty of room. The boat didn't sag down where we sat like most rafts do, this one was very sturdy. The only complaint I have is that three times the oars came undone halfway cross the lake and we were almost stranded. Luckily my husband was fast enough to dive in and catch them before they sank too far. (Lake is freezing cold and about 60 feet deep or more where we were.) The manual pump worked exceptionally well. Since we had a battery operated one, we used that to fill up about halfway, then we used the manual since it had a higher output. Would definitely purchase again. I was raised around boats, but having just started out with my husband, we have not yet purchased an actual boat. We figured this would be a great intro being that you can add a trolling motor. We will probably do that next summer, just in case we lose an oar again and aren't able to catch it quickly enough! Bottom line – TONS of fun!

I bought this boat after a month where my husband had 3 heart surgeries. His happy place is on the water fishing in his kayak, also Intex.

I was worried about him paddling out and having a medical emergency. We did our homework and decided on this one as you could modify it as much as you like.

It is huge! We ordered the mount kit and bought the 1.5 trolling motor others used and went out this past weekend.

It worked like a charm. So many men came and asked about it. The best part was he could troll around and fish and feel secure.

We have always stuck with Intex, and it looks as if that will not change. Excellent

I did not attach a motor to this boat. I used the oars provided. Oars have several issues. 1. Oars are too short which results in a wide grip. The wide grip tires you out especially when going against the current. 2. There is a rubber stop on the oar, so it doesnt call through the oar holder. Issue is, once this rubber stopper gets wet, it begins to slide up and down. When you row the oars begin to slide up and down resulting in harder rowing. 3. The oar mounts feel like they will eventually rip if rowing hard against a current. If those break off while on raft, good luck getting back. 4. There is no Marine Identification Number on boat: in Florida, if you mount gas or electric motor on any boat, you must register it with the state. If there is no marine identification number, then you are unable to register the boat. This means i can never legally have a motor on this boat in the state of Florida. For $120 its not bad, but you get what you pay for.

It showed up on time, we have been able to use it quite a few times for fishing and not a single hole to be found. Inflating takes at least 30 minutes with an electric air bed motor. Using the pump at the end of each piece to get to pressure. The pump broke the first use, thankfully we had the exact same kind for an air mattress we bought a while back. Definitely big enough for four adults or two adults and a few kids. When you deflate it if you fold it up properly everything fits right back in the bag it came with

I did a good amount of fishing from this boat. It is working great, just have put away for the winter. I do not have a motor on this boat. I would say that this is a great boat if you are going to go out with 3 or 4 people a lot. It fit 3 fit adult males well. 4 would be stretching it for sure.

I ended up going more often with just one other person and also with just one person on the boat (me). For these situations, the size of the boat was luxurious, but the thing is hard work to row. I'm an athletic young man and it gave me and my friends some tough workouts on our lake. Especially when I was alone, I knew I would get a killer workout trying to go out on this. It was definitely doable though. But I mean a killer workout.

I would recommend a two person inflatable kayak if you don't know for sure that you will mostly be going with 3-4 people. This thing is great, but the size does make it hard to deal with at times, which made me and others less likely to go. It's just hard work. Good quality boat. Good rod holders. Oars worked for me. Anchor came in handy for windy days, but other times it was more work than it was really worth. Consider if you really need this size, or if it would probably be better to just go for a more maneuverable kayak

These boats have an enthusiastic following for good reason: great value for the money. That said, my experience has been that you'll enjoy it more with a motor. There's no keel and it is difficult to row. Found that out first hand. On a small lake with just a minor headwind I found it very cumbersome to make headway. The good news is the boat has motor mount attachment points installed. You'll want the Intex mounting kit.

I have a Minn Kota 30 lb trolling motor but I'd recommend going bigger. Still, with two adults and two young teens I was able to putt around a 400 acre lake with ease. I use a cheap Die Hard marine starting battery – economical but not beefy enough for a full day on the water.

My state requires all motorboats be registered which wasn't that easy. A local title outfit that does boat registration couldn't help me because the boat has no title, just a certificate you can download from Intex. Ultimately I took the printed Amazon receipts and certificate to the Fish and Boat headquarters (this is PA).

My only issue so far is a pinhole leak that just started this week. I have a liquid pvc patch product on the way. The boat is pvc, but do know that it isn't a Zodiac. The material is better than pool toy vinyl but it's clearly not meant to take harsh punishment.

It's a great little boat! With a bit of clever engineering I managed to put a Bimini top on it and I just love sitting on the water, in the shade, with a cold drink. With two grownups there is plenty of room to really stretch out (our feet hardly even touch!), bring a cooler and some personal items, and not feel too cramped. Half a dozen outings so far and I'm not bored with it yet. If I can get a couple summers worth out of it, it'll be some of the cheapest fun and relaxation I've ever bought.

I am glad I chose Excursion 4 over 5, it looks like a perfect size for 2 adults and a kid or two. Spacious floor 78"x36" offers a plenty of room. There is a lot of modifications can be found on Internet to this raft. Most popular is plywood hard floor. I am implementing it now out of 4×8 pressure treated plywood in two folding sections. And I am going to put three seats in the boat. When folded it is conveniently stored in a bag about 50 lb weight. I chose Intex Quick fill pump with impressive 1100 lpm flow and I am glad I did! It pumps this boat in no time! I definitely do not go back to weak 12V 480 lpm pumps. The downside is that this pump runs on 120AC only, and my Dodge Durango built in power socket is not powerful enough. So I am going to buy 750W inverter to use with it. I bought Minn Kota 50 lbs motor for this boat. Looking forward to go camping on the lake on 4th of July to fully test it. That is the best bang for your buck if you want compact affordable boat that allows you easy DIY improvements. I can't comment on how it behaves on the water yet, but I might update the review as soon as I get it out on the water.

My wife and I bought this boat two weeks ago, you absolutely need to buy an electric air pump with this boat. The hand air pump that comes with the boat takes too long to blow up and your hands are exhausted. I purchased the AIRHEAD AHP-120 Air Pump 120 volt, my truck has a 110 outlet in the back, if you don't have this outlet you will need to get the 12 volt version. If you purchase a stronger electrical air pump you will have to be careful not to over inflate this boat as you could damage the rubber.

I got this to use on our lake during a drought period when boat ramp was out of water. I only got to use it a couple of times before the ramp was back in water. I was amazed at how fast this raft would go with the Minn Kota Endura C2 30 I put on it. Also amazed at how little water you need to get it floating. I would say it floats in a couple inches of water but I did make a wood floor for the raft. Finding the motor mound was my biggest problem. Everyone was out of stock so had to pay full retail to get the last one this one company had.

On the floor, I highly recommend you build a floor so you have stability. What I did was make a two piece template out of cardboard with a cut seam in the middle of the raft. I transferred my template to 1/4" exterior plywood and cut the floor shape. I then gave the floor 3 coats of resin on both sides and end edges. Round off the end edges so no sharp edges. Finally, I sprayed all the edges with Quick Dip plastic spray (more like rubberized). I also sprayed some spots in the center part of the two pieces on both sides so plywood wouldn't move around and walking surface was safer. Having the plywood floor in two pieces makes it easy to carry in my Tahoe and simple to put into raft.

On filling the raft, I got the Intex Quick-Fill DC Electric Air Pump which fills the raft in very little time. Always underfill the raft if you know the air temperature will get warmer. The raft is very stable even being under filled provided you have that wood floor. I loaded my grandson and all our gear and had no problems with the raft itself. I used a large Coleman Ice Cube ice chest to sit on while controlling the motor and need to secure that to the floor before using it again. Wave action and quick starts can throw you off balance because I was sitting so high. Haven't hit any rocks or other objects so can't say how it will hold up. Looking forward to using it again this summer.
